The Neighbourhood

Mellow stone cottages in a valley just behind the coast bordering the moors.

Sitting within the prestigious Raithwaite estate, some 80 acres of woodland complete with a four-star hotel and its many facilities. Stroll up the hill to take pre-dinner cocktails in the stylish bar, a light bite, hearty lunch or afternoon tea. Enjoy fine dining in the Brasserie for a special treat.

Or head east towards the beach for a healthy promenade walk north towards the Hart pub in Sandsend village and some lovely pub grub. Turn south and you head straight into the fishing port of Whitby with its atmospheric history, and world beating fish and chips.

The beach is a dream for picnics, sandcastle building, kite flying – or just staring out into the wild blue yonder! It’s a great sandy expanse where you are able to walk right along from Sandsend village into Whitby at low tide. At Sandsend there are two beach café’s, for your early morning breakfast latte and bacon butty or something more substantial throughout the day.

And a special point of interest for all dog lovers – the beach is available to dog walkers all year round – a small section at Sandsend village is out of bounds in the summer but its an easy walk up to the roadside and a short stroll on the pavement to the dog friendly beach café’s!

Inland offers the wild beauty of the North Yorkshire moors – a walker’s paradise.
